Over the next four months, my opponents are going to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars talking about themselves. I’m not. I’m going to talk about us.
Our District runs the entire length of the Broward coastline, east of Dixie Highway. It includes Fort Lauderdale, Wilton Manors, Oakland Park, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Hillsborough Beach, Pompano Beach, and Deerfield Beach. Almost every single one of us lives in a mandatory evacuation zone.
We are unique in the County, State, and Nation: over 50% of us are between the ages of 35 and 55, and have at least a Bacheor’s Degree; 65% of us are single and live alone; 86% of us do not have children; and our District tops the nation in “rent stress” — most of us dedicate at least 55% of our income just to pay our rent or mortage.
The issues that are most dire for us are also bellwethers for the State as whole, and if the State invests in solving them, every District wins. To be honest, we don’t have time to bicker about the same old dog whistle issues that inundate our mail boxes every election cycle, most of which are largely irrelevant to our immediate concerns. Right now, we are blindfolded on a tight rope, hoping we don’t sneeze.
Hope is not a tactic.
The Issues Critical to District 93:
- Hurricane Preparation, Response, and Relief
- Rent Stress, Home Prices, and Student Debt Burdens
- Sea Level Rise, and Habitat Protection and Restoration
- Government Accountability, Responsiveness, and Citizen Oversight
I have detailed, practical, do-able solutions for these issues, and I invite you to explore them, along other important issue for our District and State, on my Crowdpac site, where you may also follow my campaign’s regular updates and add your support.
I am not a politician and I’m not running to put a red check or blue check on seat in the Legislature. I am just an ordinary person, who has lived in our District for 21 years, who is sick and tired of nothing ever getting done.
Thank you for your time!
